I'm sore today. Saturday I was on a retreat with a bunch of the guys from church. We played lots of floor hockey, I climbed a climbing wall for the first time and we went on a trail ride on horse back.

I put a in a full day of training for 7 people today. Largest group I have every trained and the quietest too.

I was asked if there was a way to create a report that lists users default printer. Turned out to be a pretty easy project. I found a vbscript online that would list all of the printers setup for a user when run on their PC when they are logged on. I added a little logic to it and was able list just the default printer. I then changed the output format so that it created a HTML table. This script can be ran by the logon script and create an file on each users personal drive on the network. I them modified a script I created a while back to read all the individual files and create a HTML table with all the info. The final report can be opened in MS-Excel and sorted searched etc for info on who is using specific printers.

We have been wanting to work the dogs off leash in an area larger than our back yard. There is a local outdoor hockey rink that has no ice that I thought would work well. So we gave it a try. We made sure the gates were all closed and secure, then turned the dogs loose. They had a ball running around a fairly large area. We then did some recall work which went well. We will be returning to the hockey rink for dog training in the future.

We have some old PCs at work that are going to be donated to a few family members of staff. I spent much of the day getting Windows 98 installed and sorting out drivers.

I processed the web logs today for last month and thinks on the sights all look fairly consitant from month to month. I also picked up a Linksys 8 port switch for the home network. The switch lets me separate the internet and LAN only traffic, plus let me retire my aging 10 Mb hub. Next I need to install my new UPS which will require a short shutdown of the web server.

I went into the basement to move the web server onto the new UPS and when I went to shutdown the web server it was locked up. Odd as I had just finished getting Emma's gaming PC up and running again. I had to power the server down the hard way and had to pray that it would would power up again. UPS is now in place with the web server connected to it and up an running again. Also put all the networking gear on the UPS as well.

Swapped VCRs in the living room and rewired all the gear. Also trying to figure out why we have 2 channels that randomly display the channel info. I can press the cancel button on the remote and the info clears from the screen only to reappear in a few minutes.
