Back in the salt mines after a great relaxing weekend. Emma and I went camping and did nothing but sleep, read, eat and play with the dog.

My Microsoft Software Update Services box downloaded WinXP SP2 today so we should be seeing SP2 on the Windows Update pages any day now. I was able to point a WinXP box a one of the newer Windows Update pages and it updated the updated software on the PC but did not offer up SP2.

Two laptops walked out of the building last night. One was in a office that I think should have been locked, though I doubt it is ever locked. The other was off a desk where a laptop should never be left over night. Both laptops belonged to owners of the company who are also department heads. Never mind the cost of the laptops, there is likely information that cannot be replaced on the laptops. I have always thought and have voiced my opinion a few times that the physical security in the building sucked. Maybe now that two heavy weights in the building have been hit they will rethink the way they are doing things. I have my doubts about that though.

The thieves got 7 laptops in total. 4 company owned and 3 personal.

Once again reading another daynoter's page provides me with a little jewel. Dave Farquhar mentioned Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk for M$ Networks and it was just the tool I needed today. I could not get a ISA nic to work on an industrial computer and the Realteck 8019 that was on a daughter card I have had problems with in the past. I tried a Bart's boot disk and it locked up after loading the NIC driver. The Universal Bootdisk worked like a charm and I was able to Ghost the industrial computer.

I finally got around to working on a part of the backlog of Jazmine pictures. You can see the pictures here.

Yesterdays link to the Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk for M$ Networks was no good. thanks to Dan Seto for pointing that out. I have fixed the link for those of you who are interested.
